Stephen R. Covey is a highly respected business man throughout the world.  He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah.  He then pursued an MBA at Harvard University and completed his doctorate in Mormon Church history at Brigham Young University.  At Brigham Young University, he was given the opportunity to serve as the assistant to the president.  He also served as a professor of business management and organizational behavior.  He is an active member of the Mormon Church, serving in various callings or positions.

His other writing credits include First Things First, Principle-Centered Leadership, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Families, and The 8th Habit.   His books focus on leadership, management, productivity in the workplace, and the values of family and a happy home life.  The foundations of his opinions and counsel on these topics are drawn from the Mormon Church.  His belief in Mormonism has a great influence over the topics that he writes about and the advice that he gives to companies seeking his counsel.    Covey is the founder of the Franklin-Covey Company, whose headquarters are located in his home state of Utah.

Covey is deeply devoted to his wife Sandra, and is the father of nine and grandfather of forty-four.  He currently resides in the Wasatch mountains in Utah.  In 2003, He received the Fatherhood Award from the National Fatherhood Initiative.  Covey regards this as one of the most meaningful awards he has ever received.

His list of awards is quite long.  He was named as one of Time Magazine’s 25 most influential Americans.  He was also awarded the 1994 International Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Dr. Covey currently serves on the board of directors for the Points of Light Foundation, based in Washington, D.C. He also holds seminars and workshops for businesspeople wanting to better their business through Covey’s 7 habits.  Franklin-Covey has offices in 123 countries, with more than 110 retail stores.  He is a highly sought after motivational speaker.
